Read MoreHonestly, I think we know by now that it’ll take a combination of things to move forward from this. I’ve been trying to figure out a proper response to George Floyd’s murder - and the subsequent violence against more Black people - while even more Black people die from COVID-19 - and emotionally, I’m spent.
The most I can put my mind to right now is spotlighting community-based solutions that I learn about through my work. One of these, is something that directly relates to every New Yorker RIGHT NOW.

Read MoreIn the 1980’s, Reagan’s “War on Drugs” put Crime in the driver seat of American politics. Tough on crime laws then came in the Clinton era, spurred on by politicians like then-Senator Joe Biden. Black and Latinx communities were hit the hardest; and the state of Michigan was no exception.
Read MoreBack in 2017, I interviewed an artist by the name of Kyle Dion at Okay Space - the performance was one of a kind. Literally. It was the only acoustic version of his single, “Brown.” And the song had evolved so dramatically from the studio version, it was worth me scrounging through old files and contracts to see I had clearance to post it after a given amount. And thankfully, I did. So enjoy this ode to Black Love and Music.
